After a long wait, and plenty of rumours, we finally have the first official headliner for Glastonbury Festival 2023 announced!

Worldwide megastar Sir Elton John will grace the Pyramid Stage on Sunday 25th June 2023, not only closing out the festival but also the UK leg of his Farewell Yellow Brick Road Tour.

This is a tour that started way back in September 2018 in Pennsylvania, USA and was eventually curtailed by the COVID-19 pandemic after his performance in Sydney, Australia in March 2020. The tour now looks set to end in Stockholm, Sweden in July 2023.

Whilst his tour was still going, Sir Elton released the biographical musical drama Rocketman in the summer of 2019. Grossing $195m worldwide, Rocketman won both a Golden Globe and an Oscar for Best Original Song “(I’m Gonna) Love Me Again”. We would highly recommend giving Rocketman a watch in the lead up to Glastonbury Festival 2023 to get you in the glam rock mood!

Sir Elton was not inhibited by the pandemic and sought to provide music and performances for his patient fans, with this in mind The Lockdown Sessions studio album was released in October 2021. Teaming up with the likes of Dua Lipa, Stevie Wonder, Lil Nas X and eventually Britney Spears, the album produced Sir Elton’s first UK number one in 16 years for “Cold Heart (Pnau remix)” with Dua Lipa. The Lockdown Sessions also became his eighth number one album and first since 2012, enabling Sir Elton to continue momentum whilst his tour was postponed.

That momentum now carries him all the way to the Pyramid Stage! And unless you already have tickets for one of his seven post-Glastonbury performances, this will be the last opportunity to witness musical royalty before Sir Elton retires from touring. So, make sure you get your spot at the Pyramid Stage well in advance on the final night of Glastonbury Festival 2023!

After this highly anticipated performance, getting back to Ziggucamp is not something you will need to worry about, with our 24-hour shuttle service in operation until midday on Monday 26th June 2023 you will have ample opportunity to arrive back at your leisure after Sir Elton John closes out Glastonbury Festival 2023!
