With that comes the exciting rumour mill of headliners for Glastonbury Festival 2023, we’ve explored some of the strongest ones and some notable mentions! Could your favourite act finally be performing on the Pyramid Stage? Or will a returning Legend evoke the nostalgia of your youth?
At the time of writing Arctic Monkeys are leading the charge to the Pyramid Stage! It will have been ten years since their last headline performance on the iconic stage, and their activity recently bodes well for Glastonbury Festival 2023. As after a four-year gap they have announced a new album, The Car, due to be released on 21st October 2022. They’ve also been back on the festival scene headlining Reading & Leeds Festival 2022, following summer stints across Europe at the likes of Sziget Festival in Budapest and Rock En Seine in Paris.
One artist that should have headlined the Sunday night in 2020, had to pull out of the re-worked 2022 Festival, and is still heavily rumoured to finally appear next year is American superstar Taylor Swift. Fresh off the back of earning top prize at the MTV Video Music Awards, Swift also announced a forthcoming new album to be released in October of this year. Alongside re-recording her first five albums, following a rights dispute, this new album will give Swift plenty of scope to bring a well awaited and anticipated Pyramid Stage performance.
Looking ahead to summer 2023 tour dates can give us an indication of artist availability for Glastonbury Festival, and there is arguably no bigger tour on the horizon than that of the effervescent Sir Elton John. The Farwell Yellow Brick Road tour has been met with numerous delays but begins again this month in North America before making its way to the UK in March 2023, with a week-long break encompassing Glastonbury Festival 2023 weekend! The tour is sold out, so Glastonbury Festival 2023 could be the last opportunity to catch this music royalty live on stage!
Some notable mentions outside of the three above include Harry Styles, The Spice Girls, Dua Lipa, Maneskin or even the return of Beyonce after 12 years.
